The real Flatbush Avenue is locate in the Borough of Brooklyn in NYC. While the Atlantic Branch of the LIRR was in Brooklyn, I have included some LIRR facilities that were located in Queens. My intent was to capture the ambiance of Flatbush Avenue, with all the unique signage in front of the stores. The signs on the storefronts on my layout came from internet photos of real stores in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. In addition, I recently added an elevated subway that runs directly above my model of Flatbush Avenue. Even though an elevated subway does not run above the real Flatbush Avenue, I added it to help create the ambiance of the urban environment. Also, since it is automated, it can run continuously during my operating sessions adding realism to the session.
